Serger Club | Candy Bag

Increase your skills using your serger making this bag from a recycled candy bag. Learn how to use iron on vinyl and add a zipper using a serger with the cording foot. Use a chain stitch to quilt your candy bag.
Materials Required-
- 1 empty candy bag
- Heat and Bond Iron-on Vinyl or Pellon Fusible Vinyl
- Cotton fabric for lining - size is dependent on the candy bag
- 1 piece of batting - the same size as lining
- ~5" x 8" scrap fabric for testing stitches
- 1 #3 nylon zipper 4" longer than bag
- 4 spools of standard serger thread
- Fabric marking pen
- Clips
- 1/4" double sided basting tape
- Scissors, ruler, your favorite tools
- Must be in good working order
- Cording foot
- Standard or Clear foot
- Teflon foot (optional)
- Quilt guide (optional)
- Chain stitch capability (if not, a sewing machine will be needed for quilting
- To make the optional tassel for your bag, you will need 1 spool of 12wt decorative thread.
Before Class-
- Buy candy - empty bag carefully by trimming one edge
- Determine the size of the bag and cut the following-
- 2 pieces of lining 1" larger than bag on all sides
- 2 pieces of batting the same size as lining
- 2 pieces of vinyl the same size as lining
